“The Concubine” by Beirut

Off the Realpeople Holland side of the March of the Zapotec/Realpeople Holland LP. The second side features Condon’s experiments with electronics, synths, and loop effects, similar to those early demos floating around the internet that were recorded before Gulag Orkestar came out. “The Concubine” sounds like the perfect combination of the Gulag, electronic loop experiments and the orchestral pop of The Flying Club Cup.

I believe Beirut falls into the category of “Always Yes,” which, for me simply means enjoying a band or musician regardless of what they release. I will give their new material many chances until I can as precisely as possible “understand” what they are doing and then fawn over it like the fangirl I am. See: love affair with The Kills, Patrick Wolf.

Emphasis mine.

This year I had a temp who was dating one of the members of Beirut. I immediately made them my BFF.
